Matheus Pereira has carved out a niche for himself as a talented attacking midfielder known for his creativity, technical skills and ability to change the course of a game with his plays. He began his footballing journey in the youth ranks of Sporting Lisbon, quickly showing his potential and making his debut for the club in 2015.

Despite a promising start, Pereira found first-team opportunities limited at Sporting, leading to numerous loan spells to gain more playing experience. His time in the 2016-17 season was particularly formative, allowing him to showcase his skills in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, where he impressed with his dribbling and playmaking abilities.

Pereira’s career took a major turn when he joined West Bromwich Albion on loan for the 2019-20 season. In the English Championship, his impact was immediate and profound. He became pivotal to the team’s attacking strategies, contributing ten goals and twenty assists, which were instrumental in West Brom’s promotion to the Premier League. His performances earned him a permanent move to the club, and he signed a four-year contract with West Brom in the summer of 2020.

In the Premier League, even as West Brom struggled, Pereira’s star continued to rise. He was a standout performer, showing his ability to compete at the highest level of English football. Over the course of the season, he scored 11 goals and provided six assists, proving himself to be a player of great quality and consistency.
