Learning a new language can be a frustrating yet rewarding process, as it requires dedication and constant practicing, especially in achieving native-level fluency. There is no secret or magical component to accelerate the process. However, focusing on one area of improvement, narrowing down your focus, and having specific goals can help you master it in less time!

Our main focus here is how to learn Arabic speaking, and the most appropriate term to be used here is “conversational fluency” which means having the ability to hold every day-to-day conversation with native speakers without difficulties in expressing yourself.

1- Choose the dialect you want to learn:

You might be familiar with the Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), which is the official language and is used mostly in written Arabic and formal settings. However, the Arabic language is spoken in nearly 25 different Arab countries, and MSA is hardly used as a spoken language. There are different Arabic dialects, including Egyptian and Gulf dialects, so your first step is to pick the variation the suites your need.

2- Have as many conversations as possible!

No matter how many books you read or how many supporting sites you use, speaking a language cannot be mastered through the memorization of words or phrases. Hours of conversations with native speakers (or a speaker above your level) is the most sufficient way for your mind to process and utilize all the knowledge you gained and apply it into speaking.

3- Learn the most common words:

It might be overwhelming to be exposed to a huge range of words you want to learn to express yourself, and you might find yourself at the beginning of your journey holding a list of words that you cannot fit or use in conversations. Set your priority, and learn the most common words used in the situations you will need them the most.

    4- Use your vocabulary:

When you learn a new word, try to use it as much as possible in conversations. It will help your mind to register and to process the word more efficiently instead of keeping it stored with no meaning. It takes some repetition for the word to come naturally in a certain context.

5- Use online courses and listen to audios:

You can use websites or listen to audios as a reference for your knowledge. You can gain some fundamental vocabulary and learn how specific words and phrases are used in context. It will also help you get a grasp of the accent and pronunciation of certain letters and words.
