The iPhone X was a revolutionary phone for Apple when it launched in 2017. One of the most significant changes was the removal of the home button and introduction of Face ID.

However, the iPhone X lacked one feature that newer iPhones have - an eSIM. So can you get an eSIM with an iPhone X?

Unfortunately, no. The iPhone X does not support eSIM technology. It uses a standard nano-SIM card instead.

But don't worry - while you can't use an eSIM on the iPhone X, there are still ways to use multiple numbers or data plans with this device. Here are a few options:

Use a Physical Dual SIM Adapter

One simple solution is to use a physical dual SIM adapter. These adapters allow you to use two nano-SIM cards in your iPhone X at once.

They work by having you replace your usual SIM card with the adapter, which has space for two SIMs. This gives you dual SIM functionality.

When shopping for an adapter, look for one made specifically for the iPhone X to ensure full compatibility. Brands like Skyroam or Simore offer reliable adapters.

With a dual SIM adapter, you can have separate numbers for personal and business use or access SIM cards from different carriers. You'll have more flexibility when traveling internationally as well.

The downside is that having two physical SIMs means no eSIM. But for dual SIM capabilities, a physical adapter lets you work around the limitations of the iPhone X.

Use a Secondary Phone Number App

Another option is to use an app that provides a secondary phone number for calling, texting, and voicemail. Popular choices include Sideline, Hushed, and Line2.

These apps aren't eSIMs, but they mimic dual SIM functionality. You get an additional phone number without having to use two physical SIM cards.

The apps route calls and texts to your iPhone X's primary number. All you have to do is install the app and set up your extra number.

With both your primary and secondary numbers in one device, you can separate personal and work calls more easily. The apps offer various subscription plans, often cheaper than an entire extra phone line.

Just keep in mind that this does use your iPhone X's data, so you'll want to have an unlimited plan. While not a full dual SIM replacement, number apps provide helpful flexibility.

    Use a Mobile Hotspot

If your priority is getting more data, using a mobile hotspot can help. This lets you connect your iPhone X to another carrier's cellular network via a secondary device like a MiFi router or smartphone.

For example, you could use your regular SIM card in your iPhone X for phone calls and texts. But then connect your iPhone to a hotspot from a different provider for data purposes.

This allows you to mix and match plans to get the data amounts you need or take advantage of promotions from multiple carriers. You get the benefits of dual SIM without multiple physical SIM cards in your iPhone X.

Just remember that hotspot plans tend to have slower speeds and data caps. So do some research to make sure the hotspot provides enough data for your iPhone X at reasonable speeds.

    Wait to Upgrade Your iPhone

If you need eSIM functionality along with the dual SIM capabilities of newer iPhones, then waiting to upgrade may be your best bet. All models after the iPhone XS support eSIM technology.

The iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and later models allow you to use a physical SIM card along with an additional eSIM line. This gives you true dual SIM abilities with one eSIM and one nano-SIM.

So if you can hold off upgrading until you move to one of these later models, you'll get full support for using eSIMs. That way, you can have two separate phone numbers, data plans, or carriers in one iPhone.

While you can't get an eSIM to work directly with the iPhone X, alternatives like dual SIM adapters, number apps, or mobile hotspots offer workable solutions. Or you can upgrade to a newer iPhone when you're ready for full dual SIM and eSIM support.

So don't stress if you need multiple numbers or data plans with your iPhone X. With a little creativity, you have options to get the flexibility you need. The iPhone X may miss out on eSIM, but that doesn't mean you have to miss out on functionality.

The iPhone X does not support eSIM technology. eSIM, or embedded SIM, was introduced starting with the iPhone XS and XR models. If you're using an iPhone X, you'll need to rely on a traditional physical SIM card for cellular service. For the latest iPhone models with eSIM capabilities, you'll find that they offer the convenience of having a virtual SIM alongside a physical one, but that's not an option with the iPhone X. If you need to register a traditional SIM, you might use resources like the TNT SIM register link for your registration needs.
