Pension funds are exploring the possibility of investing in Bitcoin ETF: Fidelity

Institutional investor interest in Bitcoin continues to grow

Manuel Nordeste, vice president of digital assets at Fidelity, spoke about the growing interest of institutional investors in financial products based on cryptocurrencies.

“We're now starting to talk to large institutional real money investors and getting some of those clients, as well as corporations and so on,” Nordeste said.

BlackRock also noted increased educational interaction with pension funds regarding Bitcoin ETFs. The potential impact of such investments is very large. With a total asset value exceeding $4 trillion, even a modest move by US pension funds into BTC could channel significant capital into the cryptocurrency market.

Traditionally, pension funds have been cautious, staying on the sidelines due to strict risk management protocols. However, change seems to be at hand. If pension funds follow in the footsteps of more nimble investors such as family offices and hedge funds who have already begun investing in Bitcoin, it could mark a major step towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies.

A recent survey conducted by Fidelity Digital Assets shows divided market sentiment regarding the integration of cryptocurrencies into traditional portfolios. About 80% of wealthy individuals are bullish on digital assets, compared with just 23% of pension funds.

“Smaller but sophisticated investors such as family offices are more active in crypto investing because they can quickly adapt to new opportunities, unlike pension funds that prefer to carefully consider every decision,” Nordeste explained. Bitcoin news
